Hi, let me introduce Spectre.
It was initially conceived as a set inspired by the paranormal. However, I wanted to take the concept a step further. As someone who has always been fascinated by both physics and horror, I wanted to find a connection between these two seemingly opposite worlds.
Let’s take a brief look at what is often referred to as the fifth state of matter: the Bose–Einstein Condensate (BEC): At temperatures approaching absolute zero, atoms begin to lose their individual identities, merging into a single quantum state and behaving collectively as one macroscopic matter wave: the Bose–Einstein Condensate.
This creates an unexpected connection between quantum physics, paranormal legends, and ghosts. Intangible entities, sudden drops in temperature, a physical presence fading into the incorporeal and that set explores the thin line where matter stops behaving as we know it and begins to resemble a spectre.
This connection has also been made in various science fiction magazines and articles, as well as in the movie *Spectral* (2016).
